Michael Joseph Jackson was born in Gary, Indiana on August 29, 1958, the seventh child of Joe and Katherine Jackson. He first came to public fame as a member of the group The Jackson 5, with his brothers, Tito, Marlon, Jackie and Jermaine. They were signed to Barry Gordy's Motown label. Their first four singles, "I want you back", "ABC", "The love you save", "I'll be there", all went to number one on the American pop charts. The first time it had happened in Recorded History.
